Good afternoon all,

I am back at lovely UCF and ready to resume normal SARC and OPAL tutoring hours. If you see Brian thank him for his help in keeping up the tutoring in my stead. As a reminder, my hours are now 12-2 Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30 on Wednesdays, and the OPAL session from 3-3:50 on Fridays. I look forward to working with you all again.

Good morning all,

As an update, I will be going out of town for two weeks starting on June 24th. My friend Brian will be covering some of my tutoring sessions while I’m gone. He will be available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-10 in the CECS lab (Egn1 rm 281). I apologize for the time change and any inconvenience it may cause. I will be back and resuming my normal sessions on July 10th.

-Brendan

Good afternoon,

For anyone wanting to attend the Online tutoring sessions on Fridays, simply follow the link below and type in “OPAL” as the room password (all caps).

Look over these and try to work them on your own as well. Additionally, I will have my regular hours tomorrow for any other questions you may have. Good luck on the test.

Good afternoon,

With your first test coming up I will be holding a review session. It will be Monday, 6/5, from 2-3 pm in NSC 114. There will also be an announcement made on Webcourses with this info. Hope to see a lot of you there.

Good afternoon all,

In observance of Memorial Day there will be no tutoring sessions tomorrow, May 29th. Sorry for any inconvenience, but in-person sessions will resume on Wednesday and the OPAL session will be available on Friday.

Good evening,

Just as a note for anyone planning on attending the online OPAL sessions, when prompted for the room password simply type in OPAL, in all caps just as it appears here.

Addendum: the review session will now be in HPH room 115, still at 10:30 -12:30

Good evening all,
With test 2 swiftly approaching, I will be holding another review session tomorrow (23 Feb) from 10:30-12:30. For the moment it will be in EGN 1 room 281, but that may change last minute, so keep an eye here on wordpress. Additionally, if you can’t make it to the review the problems are as follows: from Hibbler 9th edition 5.57, 5.58, 5.143, 5.144, 6.49, 6.53, 6.79, 6.81, 7.10, 7.13-15, 8.4, and 8.13. Hope to see a good few people there.

Respectfully, Brendan

For anyone who couldn’t make the review session the questions which will prepare you for the exam are as follows: from the Beer textbook (the one in your syllabus) concept question 2.1, sample problem 2.1, questions 2.15, 2.30, and 2.125. If you have access to the Hibbler textbook you can also look at examples 4.6, 5.1-5.4, and question 4.54. If you don’t have the Hibbler book, take a look at some of the early torsion examples in the Beer book. I hope these problems are helpful, and wish you all good luck on the test.

Respectfully,
Brendan Ruchlin

-Brendan

P.s. if someone could bring the Beer textbook from the syllabus, that would be great.
